For All Harps and Harp Players

M.O.V.E.™ was inspired when I got the chance to play together with six adult beginner harpists. At that time, we played  the songs  with everyone playing the arrangements in unison. It was a wonderful sight to see so many beginners playing together for fun. I thought at that moment about how cool it would be if instead of playing the same song together, we could play individual parts like a choir. After all, if six harps can play six different notes at the same time, they could make quite a joyful, big sound and nobody would have to play any one part that was too difficult for them. From then on I started putting my theory/composition degree to work in order to come up with simple arrangements of well-known songs, that when played together would make a great sound. I believe that I have come up with a system that achieves this objective. Since then I have found arrangement testers online who have been very patient and cooperative with me by trying out version after version of the songs. Several testers have told me that it was much easier to play along with the M.O.V.E.™ CD than to deal with the monotony of a metronome. Their family members were able to recognize what they were playing right away and they were able to focus on making music instead of struggling with the notes. I hope that My Own Virtual Ensemble for all harps and harp players can provide other folks with that type of satisfying experience.

Why do we need M.O.V.E.™?

• Beginning ensemble harp players (especially adults) need to achieve an acceptable level of competency in a relatively short period of time.

• Adult beginners prefer to work on pieces that are familiar to themselves as well as their friends and family.

• It's more fun to play with other people than to play alone.

• Playing along with the M.O.V.E. CD gives more assurance that they are playing their part correctly and gives the satisfaction of hearing how the song will sound when finished.

• Gives confidence to people new to reading music.

• Allows the Teacher or Ensemble leader to have complete flexibility of doubling parts depending on the number of players in the ensemble or to cover the parts to support weaker players.

What is on the M.O.V.E.™ CDs?

Your M.O.V.E. packet comes with a 2 CD set. One is for your play-along song files that are note for note sound of each of the written arrangements. The digital sound that you hear are beautiful samples of  Venus and Wurlitzer concert harps. This CD is playable on a portable CD player as well as on your computer. Just choose the track and play along!

The other CD included in your M.O.V.E. packet have full sized sheet music of each arrangement in PDF format that you can print out yourself. They are also viewable automatically on most computers with Acrobat Reader. No, you don't have to look for Acrobat Reader - your computer will do it for you.
